The University of Jaén (UJA) and the NEOLAiA Alliance strengthen their presence in the strategic networks that define the future of European higher education.
The Vice-Rector for Internationalization at the University of Jaén, José Ignacio Jiménez González, has been elected as a member of the FOREU4ALL Council, the community of practice that brings together the 65 EU-funded European University Alliances, encompassing nearly 650 higher education institutions.
The Vice-Rector for Internationalization at the University of Jaén and head of the NEOLAiA Alliance, José Ignacio Jiménez González, has been elected member of the FOREU4all Forum Council for the period 2026-2027. With this appointment, the University of Jaén and NEOLAiA consolidate their involvement in the strategic networks that are defining the future of higher education in Europe.
The election took place during the meeting of the FOREU4all General Forum held on February 9. FOREU4ALL is the community of practice that encompasses the 65 European University Alliances (and their nearly 650 institutions) and is co-funded by the European Union.
The Council is composed of 15 members and will also include two other Spanish representatives from Andalusian universities, thus reinforcing the leadership of the Andalusian public university system in the European Universities initiative.
In this new phase, the Council’s main tasks will be to support the strategic direction of the Community of Practice and strengthen collaboration within the alliances and the European Higher Education Area as a whole. In addition, through the Council, the European University Alliances will participate in policy dialogue and debate on EU financial programming to ensure sustainable support for transnational higher education.
In this context, the European Union’s Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2028-2034 – the long-term budget that defines the EU’s priorities and resources for the next seven years – includes clear funding proposals for key programs such as Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, and the new European Competitiveness Fund, all of which directly support the mission of the 65 European university alliances that are part of FOREU4ALL.
