Diversity & Inclusion
A cross-sectional dimension that will be embedded in various activities throughout the whole NEOLAiA alliance
Events
D&I NEOlife Events
We bring D&I to life on campus and beyond by reaching out to our communities through a combined offering of lifelong learning content on sustainable D&I principles and practices for underrepresented groups suffering from regionally identified barriers to participation.
Values and policies
D&I NEOcharter
We align and introduce a set of common D&I values and principles within the Alliance based on European guidelines by creating a common framework.
Best Practice
D&I Best Practice Examples
We implement the NEOcharter sustainably within the Alliance through continuous improvement, reflection of current best practices, mapping of current NEOLAiA D&I practices to remove barriers in different dimensions.
Training
D&I NEOstaff and NEOmentors
We enhance the skills of NEOLAiA stakeholders (students, researchers, faculty and staff) to remove barriers to participation and inclusion through training to empower especially underrepresented (student) groups suffering from these barriers.
Who are we?
We are a group of people working in the field of diversity and inclusion at the nine NEOLAiA universities. Under the leadership of Michaela Vogt and the coordination of Amelie Labusch (both from Bielefeld University), the group includes delegates from the universities in Jaén (Spain), Nicosia (Cyprus), Örebro (Sweden), Ostrava (Czechia), Salerno (Italy), Suceava (Romania), Tours (France), and Siaulai (Lithuania).
What is our role?
We take an active consultative role to create internal and societal awareness of D&I issues such as best practices and barriers to participation, especially for underrepresented groups in the regions where the Alliance has a presence.
What is our vision?
Our vision is an inclusive European University, starting on campus and permeating into the surrounding communities.
Research Area
We are part of a large number of (scientific) national and international conferences and publish articles on diversity and inclusion at universities.
