NEOLAiA Focus Academy course “Eyes Wide Open: Learning to See and Wonder about Possible Inclusive Worlds” invites students from all disciplines to explore diversity and inclusion through visual and art-based inquiry. Participants will engage in creative, reflective, and dialogical activities that foster intercultural competence, possibility thinking, and awareness of multiple perspectives. Through imaginative exploration and collaborative problem-solving, learners will “see the possible” and envision inclusive futures.

Visual Competence and Gender in Digital World

NEOLAiA Focus Academy course “Visual Competence and Gender in Digital World” explores how visual culture shapes — and is shaped by — gender in today’s media-saturated world. Tracing the transformation of visuality from the pre-modern era to the digital age, students will examine how gender is represented across pop culture, advertising, social media, and art. The course combines critical reflection with hands-on creative practice, including the use of AI tools for artistic creation, post-production, and the analysis of visual manipulation and deepfakes. Participants will develop visual intelligence and competence—essential branches of critical thinking for navigating the digital age—while considering the ethical, social, and political dimensions of visual representation.

NEOLAiA Focus Academy course “European Citizenship” explores the meaning, history, and future of European citizenship through legal, political, and cultural perspectives. Students will examine key topics such as democracy, mobility, diversity, and digital transformation while developing critical thinking and teamwork skills. Through online learning, podcast creation, and a simulation of EU institutions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the rights, duties, and challenges of being a European citizen in the digital age.

Data Analytics for Inclusion and Diversity

Description:
NEOLAiA Focus Academy course “Data Analytics for Inclusion and Diversity” introduces students to the use of statistical tools and data analysis for promoting equity and inclusion. Through hands-on learning with R software, students will explore real-world datasets to identify diversity trends and challenges, gaining practical skills in data interpretation, visualization, and ethical analysis.
