Call for Papers: NEOLAiA International Conference on Plurilingual Futures

Mar 5, 2026 | Neolaia

The NEOLAiA Alliance invites researchers to submit contributions to the 2nd International Conference on Narrating (Hi)Stories in Decentring Europe, which will take place on 24–25 September 2026 at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus.

This international academic conference focuses on the theme “Plurilingual Futures: Voices, Practices, and Reimagining Europe.” The event will bring together scholars from across disciplines to explore how multilingual practices, narratives, and cultural mediation influence the ways knowledge, authority, and meaning are produced and shared in Europe and beyond.

Exploring Plurilingualism and Knowledge in Europe

The NEOLAiA conference aims to create an interdisciplinary space for discussions on plurilingualism, multilingual communication, and storytelling practices. Researchers will examine how languages and narratives shape cultural memory, identity, and knowledge production in contemporary European societies.

The conference encourages contributions that challenge dominant narratives and highlight alternative or marginalised perspectives, particularly through plurilingual storytelling, translation practices, and digital media. Scholars are also invited to explore how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies influence language use, authorship, and academic knowledge creation.

Key Conference Topics

Suggested themes for submissions include:

  • Plurilingualism, knowledge production, and linguistic power
  • Narratives, memory, and storytelling across languages
  • Artificial intelligence, language, and epistemic authority
  • Multilingual education and English in higher education
  • Translation, translanguaging, and cross-cultural mediation

These topics reflect the conference’s broader aim to rethink Europe’s cultural and intellectual landscape through multilingual and interdisciplinary research.
