On 16–17 June, colleagues from across the NEOLAiA European University Alliance came together at Örebro University for the Staff Training Network on Responsible Internationalisation, organised within Work Package 4 (Enhanced Mobility).
The two-day staff meeting welcomed participants from seven NEOLAiA partner universities – Örebro University, Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences, Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava, University of Ostrava, Bielefeld University, University of Jaén, and University of Nicosia. Most attendees work directly with student and staff mobility, making the discussions highly relevant to the day-to-day implementation of internationalisation across the Alliance.
Throughout the programme, participants explored different dimensions of responsible internationalisation, exchanging experiences, challenges, and good practices in an open and interactive learning environment. The sessions encouraged meaningful dialogue on how universities can build more inclusive, sustainable, and impactful international activities while strengthening cooperation across institutions.
The programme also featured a panel discussion with Mattias Persson, Magnus Kristoffersson, Erika Tegström, Dimitri Beeckman, and Hans Jevrell, who shared valuable perspectives on responsible internationalisation and its role in shaping the future of higher education.
Beyond the sessions, the staff week provided an opportunity to strengthen professional networks, foster new collaborations, and reinforce the shared commitment of the NEOLAiA European University Alliance to creating a more connected and responsible European university.
Events like these demonstrate that internationalisation is about much more than mobility – it is about building lasting partnerships, sharing expertise, and learning from one another to create positive change across higher education.
