Six NEOLAiA partner institutions have joined a statement calling for European University Alliances to be explicitly recognised in the European Union’s next long-term budget.

The statement, For an explicit recognition of European University Alliances as pillars of Europe’s competitiveness, sovereignty and skills, asks the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament to acknowledge and support the role of alliances in the 2028–2034 Multiannual Financial Framework and the programmes under discussion.

The NEOLAiA signatories listed in the attached statement are Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences, the University of Jaén, the University of Nicosia, Örebro University, the University of Salerno and the University of Tours.

Through NEOLAiA, these institutions work across borders to connect education, research and their regions. The joint statement highlights how collaboration between European universities can help people develop skills, share knowledge and respond to social, technological and environmental challenges.
