Showcasing Applied Research with Regional Impact
During the visit, ŠVK researchers presented their ongoing work, highlighting a strong commitment to applied research and addressing real-world regional challenges. A key moment came with the presentation by Dr. Simona Skėrė, Innovation Development Manager, who shared insights into the institution’s close collaboration with industry. Her work demonstrated how research at ŠVK directly contributes to innovation by responding to practical needs and strengthening ties with local businesses.
Expanding Networks Through Work Package 5
A central theme of the discussions was how Work Package 5 can support researchers in building and expanding international networks. Identifying the right partners remains one of the most common challenges in research collaboration—an area where WP5 is designed to create real value.
Dr. Kristoffersson introduced a range of initiatives aimed at helping researchers connect more effectively across the alliance. Among these, particular attention was given to a newly developed AI-based tool that helps identify potential collaborators by matching research interests. This innovation opens new pathways for partnership-building within NEOLAiA, making it easier to initiate joint projects and strengthen academic connections.
Experiencing ŠVK Firsthand
Beyond meetings and presentations, the visit also coincided with International Staff Week activities, including discussions within the PR & Communication Staff network. This provided additional opportunities for exchange and collaboration across different areas of the alliance.
Dr. Kristoffersson also visited the Health Care, Business, and Technology faculties at ŠVK, where he explored laboratories, facilities, and equipment. These visits offered a closer look at the institution’s hands-on approach to education and research, underlining its strong capacity for applied innovation.
