On 11 and 12 December, the University of Salerno hosted the Work package 2 (Improving Teaching and Learning) NEOLAiA Degree Contents Boot-camp, a central event that brought together academic and administrative staff from the Alliance’s nine European partner universities. The aim? To lay the foundation for three innovative and interdisciplinary international degree programmes: two multiple Master’s degree programmes in “Inclusion Studies” and “Artificial Intelligence and Social Robotics Applied to Global Health” as well as a joint Bachelor’s degree programme in “Science, Management and Politics for Leaders in the Global Health Industry”.
The space for collaboration
The boot-camp provided a dynamic space for collaboration by combining plenary sessions to align objectives with parallel working groups focused on detailed content creation and implementation strategies.
Participants explored critical topics such as programme content, innovative teaching methodologies, mobility opportunities and the challenges of accreditation in different national frameworks. This hands-on approach allowed the academic committees to begin their work and ensure that each university contributed its unique perspective and expertise. The interactive discussions highlighted the Alliance’s shared commitment to excellence, inclusivity and interdisciplinarity in education.
Progress and next steps
By the end of the event, participants had identified the macro-structures and key content for the degree programmes, paving the way for the ultimate goal: the launch of the three degree programmes in September 2026. The boot-camp was not only a moment of intense productivity, but also an inspiring showcase for NEOLAiA’s potential to transform higher education.
