Jun 16, 2025 | Neolaia

On June 12-13, NEOLAiA representatives José Ignacio Jiménez González, Vice-Rector of the University of Jaén (Spain), and Ida Andersson-Norrie, International Strategy Officer at Örebro University (Sweden), took part in the Forum of European University Alliances, held under the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The forum gathered leaders and policy experts from across Europe, including representatives from the European Commission, university alliances, state ministries, and national education agencies. It served as a key platform for dialogue and collaboration on the future of European higher education.

Key Themes of the Forum

The two-day conference featured discussions and sessions on several critical topics shaping the European Higher Education Area:

  • The European Degree – steps towards recognition and implementation
  • Union of Skills – fostering cross-border talent and mobility
  • Funding Pathways – ensuring long-term sustainability for university alliances
  • Impact and Best Practices – evaluating outcomes and sharing successful strategies

Strengthening Collaboration Across Europe

The presence of NEOLAiA representatives highlighted the alliance’s ongoing commitment to contributing to policy discussions and collaborative innovation at the European level.

“It’s essential for alliances like NEOLAiA to actively participate in shaping the next phase of European university cooperation,” said Ida Andersson-Norrie. “This forum was a valuable opportunity to connect with other alliances, policymakers, and institutions working toward the same goals.”

The forum in Wrocław is part of a broader effort by the European Union to foster deeper integration and coordination among higher education institutions across the continent.
