On May 15–16, María Luisa Pérez Cañado represented the NEOLAiA European Universities Alliance at the prestigious Symposium of the European Civil Society Platform for Multilingualism (ECSPM), held in Miraflores de la Sierra, Madrid.
As a panelist in the session titled European University Alliances – Multilingual Policies for Research, Academic Collaboration and Communication of Research Results, María presented NEOLAiA’s White Paper on Language Policy. Her talk provided valuable insights into the White Paper’s evidence-based methodology, comprehensive structure, key recommendations, and the challenges encountered throughout the development process—along with strategies for overcoming them. She also outlined the next steps toward implementing the policy across the Alliance.
The presentation drew high praise from attendees and experts alike. Notably, the President of ECSPM highlighted NEOLAiA’s initiative as a model of excellence and proposed the creation of a best-practices document inspired by NEOLAiA’s work. This endorsement affirms NEOLAiA’s emerging role as a leader in shaping multilingual policies within European higher education.
