NEOLAiA's Research Areas

This topic aims to shed light on bottom-up approaches carried out in European regions. Using an evolutionary and institutional focus, the research line is based on place-based initiatives in local territories dealing with global changes. Especially the research line addresses problems such as the fight against social and territorial inequalities, the consideration of innovation processes, industrial and territorial diversification, demographic evolution and its impact on territory and climate change in order to make territories more resilient to new threats coming from globalization processes and technological change. Triple helix and quadruple helix models are taken into account as a framework for better understanding institutional change in regions.
