Prof. Dr. Angelika Epple – elected to The European University Association (EUA) Board
The European University Association (EUA) has announced the election of Professor Dr. Angelika Epple, the Rector of Bielefeld University, to its Board during the 28th General Assembly that was held on April 10-11, 2025, in Riga (Latvia). This appointment marks a significant milestone for the NEOLAiA European Universities Alliance, since Bielefeld University is one of the founding members. Full article here.
Advancing Multilingualism. NEOLAiA Work package 7 (Towards a Plurilingual and Intercultural European University) Meeting in Suceava
From April 2–4, the Work Package 7 team gathered in Suceava, Romania, to further the goal of a plurilingual and intercultural European university. This productive in-person meeting focused on multilingual education strategies and intercultural collaboration. Full article here.
Enhancing Mobility. NEOLAiA Work package 4 (Enhanced Mobility) Meeting in Jaén
Simultaneously, in the beginning of April, the Work Package 4 (Enhanced Mobility) team gathered at the University of Jaén. The meeting focused on improving the quality of mobility experiences across the alliance, emphasising inclusive and value-adding opportunities for students, researchers, teachers, and staff. Discussions included strategies for expanding traditional modes of academic exchange through innovative blended and virtual formats.
Sharing Best Practices. UNIBI and OU Visit to Örebro University
In mid-April, project management teams from Bielefeld University (Germany) and the University of Ostrava (Czechia) visited Örebro University (Sweden). The visit focused on exchanging project management experience, strategic planning tools, and best practices within the NEOLAiA context.
This collaboration emphasised alliance-wide knowledge sharing and further strengthened inter-university ties that support efficient coordination across all NEOLAiA work packages. Link to the photos.

Exploring Misinformation. Workshop Series Continues
On April 28, the fourth workshop in the Mis(sing) Information series delved into linguistic perspectives. Experts examined how language choices influence information perception and public trust.
