The University of Tours will welcome researchers and academics from across Europe for the 2nd NEOLAiA Law Network Conference, taking place on 28–29 May 2026 at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Social Sciences in Tours, France.
Organised within the framework of the NEOLAiA European University Alliance, the conference will gather around fifty participants from partner universities to exchange ideas, strengthen collaboration, and explore current developments in legal research and legal education.
Co-organised by Colombine Madelaine (University of Tours) and Ann-Christine Petersson Hjelm (Örebro University), the event is supported by the NEOLAiA Research Collaboration Fund. The first day of the conference will focus on the theme “The Interpretation of Law in a Changing World”, bringing together experts from different branches of law to discuss legal interpretation in the context of technological, social, and political change. Topics will include artificial intelligence and legal reasoning, constitutional interpretation, criminal law, EU law, tax law, and human rights.
The second day will focus on legal pedagogy, with discussions dedicated to humanistic legal education and innovative teaching approaches such as serious games in legal education. Participants will share experiences and best practices aimed at creating more engaging, interdisciplinary, and student-centred learning environments.
The programme also includes keynote speeches, thematic workshops, research collaboration presentations, and discussions on future NEOLAiA Law Network initiatives. The conference reflects the alliance’s commitment to strengthening international academic cooperation and advancing innovative approaches to legal scholarship and education across Europe.
