A new frontier for Shared Discussion and Collaboration
NEOLAiA has unveiled the Virtual Café, an innovative collaborative discussion space (hosted by the University of Salerno) designed to empower and engage the NEOLAiA European Universities Alliance communities. This ground-breaking initiative aims to bring faculty members, staff and researchers together in dynamic, inclusive and collaborative online forums.
Fostering connections across boundaries
The Virtual Café is a cornerstone of NEOLAiA’s mission to create a cohesive and interconnected European university network. The platform is based on the principles of co-creation and invites participants to share ideas, insights and solutions in a discourse environment. It enables the formation of “communities of interest” that promote dialogue on topics, functions and common goals.
A dynamic platform for collaborative growth
Each NEOLAiA partner institution, including the University of Salerno, will establish at least five forums tailored to local priorities and interests, as well as ten international forums that bring together diverse perspectives. Using methods such as the “World Café”, stakeholders will participate in discussions that emphasise informal but purposeful interactions. These forums encourage meaningful engagement where voices from all corners of the Alliance can contribute to shaping the future of European higher education.
Community-led and rewarding participation
The Virtual Café thrives on the active participation of the community. Moderation is done by the users themselves, with mechanisms that reward contributions and maintain the vibrancy of the platform. This community-driven model allows users to take ownership of the discussions and ensures an inclusive and dynamic environment for all.
A platform for all stakeholders
The Virtual Café extends beyond NEOLAiA’s internal network to include external stakeholders who also have an interest in higher education and research. By fostering cross-sector collaboration, the platform acts as a bridge between academia and society, addressing challenges and creating opportunities for joint progress.

The Virtual Café is a significant step towards the European University Alliance NEOLAiA’s goal of fostering collaboration, innovation and inclusivity. By using digital tools and co-creative approaches, the NEOLAiA partner institutions are setting a benchmark for transnational collaboration in higher education.

- Log in with your university account: use your institutional credentials to gain access.
Once logged in, you can explore the NEOLAiA Virtual Café, create and join forums, and participate in discussions about work package activities with colleagues from across the Alliance.
