Opening Event: Pushing the Boundaries of Internationalisation
The EAIE2024 kicked off with a side-event titled “Internationalisation of European Universities Alliances: The Frontiers,” organised by the University of Toulouse. This session explored the evolving landscape of higher education in Europe, particularly the role of university alliances in breaking down borders and fostering greater academic collaboration. The event highlighted the critical role that alliances like NEOLAiA play in pushing the frontiers of global education, making it a fitting start to an event focused on international cooperation.
Higher Education Exhibition: Showcasing NEOLAiA Alliance
Following the opening event, NEOLAiA participated in the Higher Education Exhibition, a platform where over 20 European University Alliances came together to present their initiatives, goals, and collaborative efforts. The exhibition, which featured diverse activities, allowed NEOLAiA and other alliances to showcase their impact on European higher education and their efforts to tackle common challenges such as student mobility, research cooperation, and inclusive education.
NEOLAiA’s booth attracted a great deal of attention from academics, researchers, and policymakers interested in its innovative approach to building a transnational education network. The alliance’s representatives highlighted NEOLAiA’s projects aimed at supporting student and staff mobility, interdisciplinary research, inclusion and diversity and the integration of new technologies to foster a truly interconnected European education system.
Promoting a Vision of Collaborative Excellence
Throughout the conference, NEOLAiA underscored its vision of promoting collaborative excellence across Europe’s educational landscape. By participating in EAIE2024, the alliance reaffirmed its commitment to advancing academic internationalisation, building stronger partnerships between European institutions, and addressing global educational challenges through collaborative efforts.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for NEOLAiA to exchange ideas with other alliances and stakeholders from across Europe, further strengthening its role as a key player in shaping the future of European higher education.
Conclusion
NEOLAiA’s participation in EAIE2024, alongside more than 20 other European University Alliances, not only demonstrated the alliance’s dedication to fostering international collaboration but also positioned it as a driving force in the transformation of European higher education. By showcasing its initiatives at the Higher Education Exhibition and engaging in discussions on the future of academic partnerships, NEOLAiA continues to contribute to the creation of a more connected and innovative European educational ecosystem.
